In 2004, Josh left Round 1 of the series with a first place in both classes. He then stopped everyone in their tracks by winning the World Supersport class at Phillip Island in March as a wildcard entry! Not long after the Phillip Island win, Josh was involved in a race accident. He was hit from behind and was left with a broken pelvis. He worked hard to recover and competed in the last event for 2004, which he won.
2005 was another year of excellence with Josh winning both Superbike and Supersport titles in Australia for Joe Rocket Honda Racing, a feat only ever accomplished once before. In addition, Josh competed in the Suzuka 8 hour in which he finished 6th on a privateer team, defeating factory teams in the process.
2006 saw Josh competing in the World Supersport Championship with SC Carrachi Ducati. Although his results were respectable with a 6th at Phillip island, Josh and SC Caracchi split after 3 rounds due to professional differences.
Josh then signed a deal with Bertocchi Kawasaki in SBK for the remainder of the 2006 season, where he has been developing the bike and learning the tracks for an assault in 2007.
Josh also competed in the Suzuka 8 hour for the Yoshiura Team where he finished 6th in 2005 and 7th on 2006
2007 has been a challenging year to date with Josh leaving Alto Evolution Honda and the SBK Championship after a series of unfortunate events with the Team’s truck being hijacked (yes, really!) and joining the super professional Stiggy Motorsports Team in the WSS.
Josh’s sole ambition is to win world championships. He is making a major effort at training through swimming, cycling and weight training. Most weekends - when not racing - he rides his motocross bike on the motocross track. |
